The Alton Business Association conducted their annual Ice-Out Contest. Ice-Out is defined as the moment when the M/S Mount Washington can reach each of its ports unobstructed by ice. Local residents who are considered experts in the art of ice watching, supplemented by observations from aircraft, pinpoints the official date and time of the Ice-Out.
